Let the Practices Begin

Devin and I were able to run a couple of miles while Tate was at soccer practice.  It was a great chance for him to get in shape prior to the start of his cross country season.

It was hot and humid, but we managed to get in almost 2 miles.

Tate's Fall Soccer

Tate working hard as the goalie.  That is his favorite position to play.

The mandatory picture with the big soccer ball.  Devin even thought he needed one too.

Patiently waiting for the kickoff.

Attacking the ball.

Tate was on the Green Grass team.  I'm pretty sure they picked that name themselves.

Yup, Fall's Here

We couldn't be more sure that Fall is well on it's way. Is it the spider webs that recently appeared around the house?  The stinky cleats and socks I keep finding around the house?  My un-kept house? Camp outs?  Spelling Words? Dirty farm boots?

Yes - That's just a few ways we know Fall is looming just around the corner.

Devin decided that he really wanted to join Boy Scouts.  Their first event of the Fall was a camp out at Sts Peter & Paul.  I picked Devin up from Tate's first soccer game.  We headed home and packed what we needed and then headed to the "camp ground".  We were in a hurry to get our tent setup before some potential rain came our way.  The boys enjoyed various activities - Ice cream S'mores, flashlight hike, glow ring toss, and more.  It was a fun evening and we settled into our tent around 11pm.

For those of you who know Haubstadt....We didn't get much sleep.  We were sleeping less than 2 blocks from a very busy railroad track, right underneath the church bell that rings hourly, and just down the road from the police/fire department.  Yup-great night of sleep!

We were up bright and early!  We survived and most importantly, Devin had a blast!  After eating some breakfast and going on a scavenger hunt, we had to head for home to get ready for the next scheduled activity.

Off to soccer we go!
You have to love Devin's fashion sense.  He picked out his new soccer socks, long before we knew his team color.  They are obnoxiously bright yellowish/green.  If he ever has an 80s day at school, we are half way there.  He seems really serious about soccer...right??

Devin moved up an age group for soccer.  It is completely different.  It's no longer a free for all.  In this league they start playing offensive/defensive positions.

Devin and his team had a great game.  They won 2 to 1.  They played well as a team, passing the ball, and getting the ball to the open player.

Next weekend - Double header.

Spring Soccer begins with a kick!

The spring soccer season has begun. Devin ready for the kick off.

Devin playing goalie for the green team. He has really grown his skills this soccer season. Devin definitely understands the game more and how to best help his team. His kicks have gotten more solid and he has gotten better at protecting his goal.

Devin's 1st Soccer Game

Devin's 1st soccer game. He is on the Jade team.  This is his first season playing and so far he has really enjoyed it.  They have been practicing on Thursday, but finally played their first game.  We was excited to get started.

Devin & Tate hanging out before the game.  We got extremely lucky with the weather.  The morning didn't start out so nice, but by the time our game started it was perfectly sunny.  Literally not a cloud in the sky!

All my boys!  Love them to pieces!

Posing for a quick picture with Mom.

Team Picture - This pose took a little work.  Those soccer balls didn't want to stay on top of their cleats.  Cute picture, though!

Coach Seiler's Jade Team!

Quite the cheesy smile

One last quick picture before the game started.

Pass the ball down the field.

Devin's turn at goalie.
