Last Day of School - Field Day

Devin on his first and last day of school.
His first day of 2nd grade is on the left and last day on the right.
It is amazing to see all the changes that occur in 180 days time.

Tate on his first and last day of Preschool.
His first day in on the left and last day on the right.
He loved every moment of Preschool and can't wait to start Kindergarten in the Fall.
He has learned so much this year.  We can't belived how he has grown and matured.

Love these two little guys to pieces.

Can you believe all the love they have for each other?  It's easy to forget the friendship and love they share.  In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the nit picking, pestering, and tattle tailing can be overwhelming, and we can quickly forget how blessed we are with such good boys.

After the mandatory pictures, we were headed to school for field day.  It wasn't the typical day in May - today it was cold and rainy.

I was able to volunteer for field day.  I helped out at the water balloon toss station.  It was so cool outside, and the water from the balloons was even colder.  None of the kids minded one bit.

This is Devin's class participating in the balloon toss.

Tate came along as my little helper.  By the end of the day, he was directing all the big kids on the rules of the water balloon toss.  Tate is definitely NOT shy.

Milk....Does a Body Good

Tate's Preschool field trip was to the Obert Legacy Dairy Farm.  I was lucky enough to be able to join Tate and his classmates on the trip.  Grandma Wolsing was even in town and joined us too!

Quick picture before the tour gets started.  They broke us into groups for us to tour the farm.

Up first, we had the chance to visit with the baby calves.  They were very friendly and wanted to suck on just about anything.

Yup, it licked Tate!  I love his expression.  He was having such a good time.

Tate really enjoyed spending time with the calves.  He fit right in wearing his boots and John Deere sweatshirt.

The calves were very playful.  It was a cool day and they were really feeling their oats!  After the calves, we headed to the milking parlor.  Their system is semi-automatic.  Everyone on the tour had the chance to feel inside of the milker.  It is a very gentle pressure, similar to a heart beat.  I was expecting much more pressure than what I experienced.

Tate trying to feed the cows.

The automatic feeder was spreading feed specific for this group of Momma cows.  It's all based on their age and milk production.

Tate learned all about how the milk comes from the farm and ends up on our table.  The most memorable thing he learned was that they have 4 stomachs and have to "throw up" and chew their food again.

We had a fun morning and enjoyed some milk and cookies before leaving.

Devin's 1st Holy Communion

Devin's 1st Communion Cake.  Thanks to Tracy at Fresh Baked in Haubstadt.  She made another amazing cake!

Devin's Candy Bar - It was filled will all types of yellow candy.

Our guest were able to make their own candy treat bags to take with them.

A few pictures prior to heading to church.  Devin looks so handsome and grown up in his suit.  He has been looking forward to this day for most of the school year.  It is such a special and memorable day in his young life.

Despite what the weather forecasters had been calling for all week, we ended up having some gorgeous weather.  It was perfect weather for a 1st Communion.

Our handsome young man.  Today is such a momentous occasion for Devin and his faith.  He will remember this day for years to come.

Two very handsome young men.

Does Tate know how to pose or what??  Still trying to figure out where he gets all his personality.  He can't definitely warm your heart with that smile of his.  Trouble...

All the men in my life dressed up and looking their best!  Hard not to smile at this picture.

I love these two more than life itself.  Very proud of both of them and so happy we get to share these special memories together.  This is what life is all about - sharing special memories with our loved ones!

Sister Irma is one special lady.  She means a lot to Devin and our family.  She has really touched Devin and he has learned so much about his faith from her.  She is such an inspiration.

Mr Terry Rohr and his wife Phyllis with Devin.  Mr Rohr is Devin's prayer partner at St James.  They have been prayer partners since Devin was in Kindergarten. They exchange letters and postcards throughout the year.  It has been such an awesome experience.  Mr Rohr is an amazing prayer partner.

Lunch is served, thanks to Pizza Revolution.  It was such a hit.  Everyone just raved at how tasty the pizza was.  Definitely the hit of the party!

Which flavor was your favorite?  I liked being able to try them all, but I have a new favorite - Fig N Pig.  Didn't know what to expect, but had the best flavor.  It was something about the sweet and savory mixed together.  Yum!

We were blessed to have such beautiful weather.  We couldn't have asked for anything better.  We spent with afternoon celebrating Devin and our faith.  It really makes you step back and think about all the many thing we have to be thankful.  We are truly blessed.
