The Bane Family Road Trip - New Orleans Day 2

We chose to eat breakfast at a New Orleans staple - The Ruby Slipper.

They are known for their amazing breakfast and adult breakfast drinks.  They make a mean Bloody Mary (complete with bacon) and a pretty amazing Mimosa.

Mom and the boys are trying to decide which amazing breakfast to order. Luckily I convinced Greg to split a meal, so we could try more items.  I ordered the daily special French Toast, which was amazing.  Greg ordered a Trio of different Eggs Benedict.  It was my first time trying Eggs Benedict and they were awesome!  After breakfast, we took to the street cars.

The first street car that we rode on was the St Charles Line. It takes you out to many area parks and down the famous St Charles Street, which is known for the historic architecture and Spanish moss.

This crazy kid enjoying the ride and views on the trolley.  Uncle Matt enjoys the ride right along with Tate and Dad.

Smile Dad!  I love looking down the line to see the trees over hanging and the grass growing between the tracks.

Devin hanging his head out the trolley!

We found the end of the line.  The trolley car crossed over and the driver switches the electric pole from the front to the back.  The front becomes the back and the back becomes the front.

Tate cheesing on the historic trolley car.

Thankful to get in a picture or two!

After riding the trolley's around, we headed to Mardi Gras World.

Inside we learned all about the traditions of Mardi Gras, the Krews, and all the parades and floats. Mardi Gras is a year round business for these guys.

Killing sometime before the tour starts.
Greg makes one fancy queen.

Matt as the jester.

Devin as the King.

Tate picked the jester, which definitely matches his personality.

We learned on our tour that Mardi Gras World makes all the Chik-fil-a Cows.  Anytime you see a 3D cow they designed and made it here in New Orleans.

This will become part of a float for the upcoming Mardi Gras Parades in 2016.

Another example of a Chick-fil-a cow they have made.

This is a set of parade floats for one of the local Krews.  This is last years floats, but gives you an idea of how fancy and detailed these parade floats can be.  They are so impressive!

This gorilla is pulled as part of a different Krew's parade, however, the crowd is supposed to throw beads and other items on the gorilla's for good luck.

Mrs Gorilla.
These are used each and every year.  They have to be repaired and repainted to match the Krew's parade theme for the year.

Fun jester head, just another example of items they make to be part of many of the parades during Mardi Gras season.

Love this picture of the red trolley coming down the line.
