Bane Family Road Trip - Louisiana Swamp

We started out the day with a Swamp Tour in Slidell, Louisiana.  This was just the beginning of Tate's birthday celebration.  We made sure to dress Tate in bright orange so the gators would eat him first!!

Posing with the concrete gator.

Baby alligator inside of the store!  We enjoyed looking at him through the tank.

Tate took over the camera for awhile and captured this picture with me and the pelican.

He even captured this great photo of Matt & Greg!  He managed to get them to smile.

Devin patiently waiting for our swamp tour to begin.  They handed out some Mardi Gras beads while we waited.  Both boys thought they were pretty awesome.

Look at all those beads.

We boarded the boat and couldn't wait for the tour to begin.

This is a raising bridge near the boat launch.

Shrimp boats.  When Katrina hit water was up into the top of this house.  The flooding was all due to the storm surge that came with the storm.

The birthday boy had the chance to feed the alligator a marshmallow.  Who knew alligators loved marshmallows!
Lots and lots of gators.

This was the first alligator we ran across.  This one was fairly good size.  It is very interesting how different in color they can be.

Very powerful to get this far out of the water!

Alligator feeding time...Remember that orange shirt!!

Don't let go of that stick Tate!

Happy alligator now that he has his marshmallow!

Why can't Tate smile??  Love Uncle Matt's face.

We even found some wild hogs while we were cruising the swamp.

Seems that he likes marshmallows, too!

Our Captain even let Tate drive the boat for his birthday.  Good thing the swamp was wide at this point.  Tate was managing to drive all over the place.  Luckily we didn't crash into anything.

Maybe he has a future as a boat captain.

Our ride for the morning  We were glad our tour was coming to an end.  The heat and humidity was really starting to crank up!
