Snow Day with Dad

Snow day at our house due to the icy roads and bone chilling temperatures -needless to say the school called a snow day. They even called Greg's work off because their warehouse is in Indy and they had 10 inches of snow.

And that is where this post begins.

Since Dad didn't have to get out he stayed home with Devin and Tate. Sometime in the afternoon it went really wrong.

I received a phone call from Greg to let me know Tate had fallen and had a cut above his eye. The real story involved Tate's big bro, Devin, as state would say. They were somehow rough housing in our bedroom. Devin grabbed Tate's arm, was spinning him around, then Tate's face hit my exerciser (treadmill). Greg cleaned the wound up and but a band aid on it. He did ask for me to get some liquid band aid. I picked that up from the way home from work.

I got home later that evening, we ate dinner, and then I thought I better check this cut. I opened the band aid and saw this.....

Last I checked, don't think a band aid or liquid band aid is going to do the job. We quickly packed up and Tate and I headed to the MEC. Good news when you walk in with a head laceration, you get a front of the line pass. Lucky us!

This was right before the doctor came in. He was such a trooper. Told the nurse his name was Captain America. She asked him if it hurt and he said "no". The Dr came in to look at it, decided it needed stitches. They cleaned it up, draped him in a sterile cloth and numbed it up. Tate didn't like the lidocaine going in, but after that settled down and talked the nurses and doctors ears off.

5 stitches later he was still all smiles. I treated Tate to a candy bar at the pharmacy. He picked M&Ms.

The staff even gave him a stuffed Woodstock for being so brave. He was still more concerned about the candy and of course a sticker.

Now the hardest part - trying to keep Tate from being a typical 4 year old boy. He also seems to be extra clumsy. Just worried he will bump it and open the wound back up. Could be a long 10 days  of trying to keep him down.

Figure this is the first of many, esp with 2 boys.

Current Score: Devin 0 : Tate 5
